How many stars for our new Star Rating plugin?

Star Rating Plugin

What to do when the star rating plugin you’ve used for years no longer works on the latest version of APEX? This past December, I was finally able to upgrade my APEX environment to 18.2. All in all, it was a relatively smooth process with little impact. Am glad to finally be running the latest and greatest, yay!

One thing that did come up in our testing though was the fact that the Star Rating Plugin we’d been using no longer worked. One of my main applications is an online reading log used by teachers and kids around the world (www.reading-rewards.com).

While using this site, kids log their reading time and review their books. We have them use a little 5-star scale for their reviews, but this no longer worked. Boo!

We couldn’t find any APEX plugins, so we decided to build our own using the RateYo jQuery plugin. And guys, it’s so cute!!!

We’ve included all sorts of settings you can work with, including number of stars, star type, colour fill, and precision. Don’t want to use a star? Maybe you could use a little person icon? No problem, just upload the SVG path for your desired icon, and voilà!
